• For checking and setting camshaft timing while installing VANOS adjustment unit on S54 engines.
• Applications: M3 cabriolet (00~06), sports coupe (99~06), CSL sports coupe (03~04).
• OEM Code: 119 140, 119 130, 119 170, 115 100, 117 160, 112 300, 117 340, 117 342.
1) 119 130, 117 342 – Setting gauge (1x gauge, 2x pins): (Setting gauge) with correction angle for timing diagram.
2) 119 140 – Test gauge: (Test gauge) for timing diagram.
3) 115 100 – Adapter: for cranking the engine at the crankshaft when adjusting the timing.
4) 119 170 – Spacer (2 pcs): for maintaining a prescribed distance installing the VANOS unit
5) 112 300 – Mandrel: for locking the crankshaft in TDC firing position when adjusting the timing.
6) 117 160 – Hook wrench: for adjusting the spline hub on the camshaft. When feeding in the helical-cut splines of the VANOS unit.
Important! Pay attention to installation direction of special tool CT2B0012-1 (A) Exhaust side (E) Inlet side.
Attach special tool CT2B0012-4 on cylinder head on left and right.
Exhaust side:
If the helical cut splines cannot be pushed into the spline hub (1):
Place special tool CT2B0012-6 on bore in spline hub (1). Rotate spline hub (1) against direction of rotation until splined shaft (2) is positioned with the spline hub (1) exactly “tooth-to-tooth gap”. Important! The “first” matching tooth must engage.
Check camshaft setting:
Attach special tool CT2B0012-2 and join in inlet camshaft.
Note: The adjustment of the inlet camshaft is correct when special tool CT2B0012-2 rests flat on cylinder head. If the special tool CT2B0012-2 protrudes to the inlet side, the timing must be readjusted.
